Shaanxi province is located in inland China. Furthermore, this is a collection of paper-cutting works called "Cut flowers" by Ku Shu Lan(1920-2007), a woman who lived in a certain village in Shunyi County in the northern part of Shaanxi Province. In this region, women have a tradition of making paper cutting by hand during breaks from farming. After attending a paper-cutting class held in the village, Ku Shu Lan would gather up the scraps scattered on her desk and floor, take them home, and use them as material to make paper mounts. She didn't have money and couldn't buy glue, so she used rice instead of glue and continued making. In 1988, HANSHENG's editors visited Ku Shu Lan for the first time and interviewed her. This book analyzes her flower pruning techniques. It also contains a wealth of materials, including illustrations organized by category such as people, animals, and plants, as well as photographs of the village and house where she lived. A book that can be positioned as Chinese outsider art.
