The series "Man and His land" released in 1958 by Ikko Narahara (1931-2020), one of Japan's leading photographers after the war, is a human being who lives in a space isolated from the outside, a monastery in Hokkaido and a female prison in Wakayama. It has been highly evaluated as a work that looks at its existence, and has won the Japan Photo Critics Association Award for New Faces. This book was compiled based on the photo book "
Man and His land" published in 1971 with a drastic change in composition. The "
Human Land" series from the previous work is excluded.
