The first photo book of Jiang Jian, a photographer from Henan, China. It was published after the 1993 solo exhibition "Scenes" held at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Beijing. Unlike other photographers, he does not travel to distant places, but sticks to his hometown and creates works that focus on the living conditions and changes of local farmers. The inside of a house, a classroom in a school after classes, a Christian church, and so on, all of them do not show people, and only traces of people remain. Including these photographers, the photographic method of erasing the existence of people establishes an archive of Chinese civil society and is established as a visual document for interpreting the living conditions of the peasants.
