Photographer Terutaka Hashimoto traveled with goze women from Takada and Nagaoka from late 1969 to autumn 1973. This book is a compilation of Nagaoka's journey with Goze, and is the first edition published by Norasha in 1974. This is his masterpiece and won the Japan Photographic Association Newcomer's Award. Comes with a box, obi, publication information booklet, and a separately printed text by Tadahiko Mori, ``Periphery Notes ``Shoko-san and the Goze.'' The back of the obi is by Tsutomu Watanabe (1908-1978).
The last three gozes in Japan. Here, for the first time, the journey through the four seasons, which has continued for hundreds of years and continues with the shamiuta of Echigo's Nomen, has been recorded. The original image of Japanese women captured by Terutaka Hashimoto's insatiable tenacity. (From the obi text)
