A clock that stopped suddenly at 11:02, human hands and glass that melted due to the heat of the atomic bomb, an iron cap with a skull, a melted beer bottle, people suffering from the atomic bomb. Photographer Tomatsu Lighting came to Nagasaki for the first time in 1960 and recorded the current traces of Nagasaki that were damaged by the atomic bomb. It is as if the testimony of the hibakusha himself, which is inserted between the pictures, connects the past and the present. What kind of thought did he have for the reconstruction of the city that changed every moment? That is strongly reflected in his manifestation attached at the end of the book.
"Surely, memory fades year by year. The fear of the 8th erodes due to the weathering of time. It cannot stop the time that progresses momentarily. But we are in the direction of survival and progress. As long as we are proud of the wisdom of humans who have recreated nature, we must not neglect the work of stopping the natural weathering phenomenon of oblivion. , I have to recover my fading memory for the amount of time that has passed, the fear of August experienced by Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the anger of the atomic bomb survivors who are branded as atomic bombs. Don't bury it in the folds of history."
By the way, this book was published by Photo Doujin in 1966, and was published as "
11:02 NAGASAKI” is a Shaken version tailored for resale. Originally it was released by Photo Doujin as the first series of Tomatsu Lighting Photographs, but since the photo Doujin went bankrupt, Tomatsu collected the unsold version of Photo Doujin and later published it by himself. After being handed over to "Shaken", the box was abandoned, a new sticker was put on the spine cover, the vinyl cover was covered, and the imprint was replaced.
