This book, "Sleeping by the Mississippi", is a book that determines the reputation of photographer Alec Soth, and can be said to be his masterpiece. It was published by Steidl in 2004, and has since gone through three editions. After more than ten years, this MACK edition was published with two photographs not included in the Steidl edition. The design follows the first edition. The series, developed from a road trip along the Mississippi River, captures America's iconic yet often ignored Third Coast. Armed with a large-format camera and using a color format, he captures eclectic depictions of coastal people, landscapes, and sometimes interiors. Its spiritual underpinnings, like Robert Frank's classic "The Americans", are not bound by strict concepts or ideology, and are born from the typical American wandering spirit. The subject of this photo book may not be about Mississippi, but rather its organizational structure.
