Trent Parke was born in Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia in 1971. He is currently a member of Magnum. He started taking photographs when he was 12 years old, using his home's laundry as his darkroom. In 2003, he and his wife, photographer Narelle Autio, drove 90,000km across the Australian continent. This book is a collection of photographs taken during this journey, and provides a fascinating and sometimes disturbing picture of 21st century Australia, from Australia's arid outback to the chaotic and depressing life of remote Aboriginal towns. The image is captured. Winner of the W. Eugene Smith Award. Incidentally, in 2006, the National Gallery of Australia purchased the entire series and placed it in its collection.
