Hachiro Hamada was born in 1941 in Tanabe City, Wakayama Prefecture. At the end of the 1960s, he became involved in the editorial staff of the magazine Gendai no Me, and through his work he met Takuma Nakahira and Daido Moriyama, and he himself found a way out of photographic expression. After that, he held solo exhibitions such as photo exhibitions and presented his works in parallel with his editorial work, such as serving as editor-in-chief of "Design Criticism" and "Shashin Jidai 21". From the latter half of the 1980s, Hamada's photography activities became quiet, and while doing work such as writing, he continued to shoot "dead scenes" in his residence, Kamakura, but died of cirrhosis in 1996. Apparently he was a chronic alcoholic. This book is a photo book published after his death, and was produced by volunteer members such as Daido Moriyama, Shinichi Kusamori, and Akira Suei.
