A collection of photographs by British fashion photographer Norman Parkinson (1913-1990). Born in London in 1913, Parkinson began his career as an apprentice photographer at Speaight and Sons Ltd in 1931 after graduating from Westminster School. He founded a co-studio with Norman Kibblewhite in 1934. From 1935 to 1940 he published photographs primarily in "Harper's Bazaar" and "The Bystander magazines". He traveled to France as a reconnaissance cameraman for the Royal Air Force during World War II. He married actor and model Wanda Rogerson in 1947 after the war, and has worked in portraits and fashion photography in Vogue. He was the editor of Queen magazine in the 1960s, moved to Trinidad and Tobago, and eventually returned to London in 1964 to end his life. Parkinson always tried to be an engineer (craftsman), not an artist. His work, "Harper's Bazaar," succeeded Martin Munkácsi (1896-1963), especially in the 1940s, incorporating bold outdoor photography from the rigorous studio photography techniques of the past. Transformed British fashion photography. Although not very well known in Japan today, he is one of the most important photographers in the field of fashion photography. This book consists of photographs taken in 1990 from 1935 to just before his death. Photo historian Martin Harrison selects works that are famous but not very familiar.
