A prewar photo book by Ihei Kimura (1901-1974), a master of Japanese photography. One of the JPS PICTURE BOOKS series published by the JAPAN PHOTO SERVICE, like "GIRLS OF JAPAN" published in 1939. Four Japanese-style painters, Taikan Yokoyama (1868-1958), Kawai Gyokudo (1873-1957), Shoen Uemura (1875-1949), and Kiyokata Kaburaki (1878-1972), have been photographed. The publisher is Sozo Okada (1903-1983), one of the founders of Tohosha, which later publishes "FRONT", and since the texts are all in English, it is also a propaganda-like collection of works to inform Japan to overseas.
