Before the war, Okinawa had many cultural heritage that its ancestors built and protected. Stone walls of mossy castles, ontakes and temples, shrines, wells that are closely linked to people's lives, bridges, and the appearance of towns and villages. This photo book is an attempt to capture as broadly and comprehensively as possible the pictures that have disappeared in the war. It is carefully selected and recorded from the thousand points of photographs that Naha Publishing has collected for a long time. In particular, most of the photographs of Shurijo Castle and other cultural assets were taken by Mr. Masazo Mori, a Ministry of Education engineer at the time who was deeply involved in the great repair of Shurijo Castle in the Showa era.
