The Gulf War broke out in the wake of Iraq's invasion of Kuwait. This photo book, taken by French photographer Sophie Ristelhueber, captures the state of the earth damaged after the war from a bird's-eye view of the aerial view. Painful negative heritage such as tanks, rut marks, and missile holes left in the desert make up a beautiful screen like an abstract painting. It was released as "FAIT" by Editions Hazan as a French version in 1992, but this book is also titled "AFTERMATH" as an English version published by Thames and Hudson in the same year. It's a small book, but the impact of photography is outstanding. And it is also a book that feels historical significance in publishing the situation of the war at that time to the world as such a photo book.
